Warranty & RMA Service Terms

IMPORTANT NOTICE - EFFECTIVE DATE: > The tiered warranty periods below apply to all new orders placed on or after March 3, 2026. Orders placed prior to this date are strictly unaffected and will continue to be fully honored under their original warranty terms.

1. Tiered Warranty Periods & Coverage

  • Brand New Hard Drives: Covered by a 5-Year Limited Enterprise Warranty from the date of original purchase.

  • Recertified / Refurbished Hard Drives: Covered by a 2-Year Limited Warranty from the date of original purchase.

Coverage Scope: This warranty covers substantial defects in material and workmanship under normal use.

  • Mechanical & Firmware Support: We provide coverage for internal mechanical failures and official firmware corruption.

  • Hardware Only: This warranty covers the physical hardware only. It does not cover data recovery, loss of profits, or any indirect damages.

2. Replacement Policy (New vs. Recertified) To ensure sustainable global support and address industry-wide supply chain challenges, we adhere to standard manufacturer replacement protocols:

  • Functional Equivalence: Replacements may be previously used, re-certified, and tested to meet original manufacturer specifications.

  • Model Obsolescence (EOL): If a specific model is discontinued or out of stock, we reserve the right to provide a product of equivalent or higher specification/capacity at no extra cost.

  • Inventory Discretion: The final determination of the replacement type (New or Recertified) rests solely with Robert Computer Hardware Ltd based on current global inventory.

3. RMA Shipping & Logistics (Important) To maintain competitive pricing and professional service standards, we utilize a "Split Shipping" responsibility model:

  • Inbound Shipping (Customer to RMA Hub): The customer is responsible for all costs associated with shipping the defective unit to our designated local RMA center. We do not provide pre-paid return labels.

  • Outbound Shipping (RMA Hub to Customer): Robert Computer Hardware Ltd will cover the full cost of shipping the replacement unit back to the customer via standard courier.

  • Prerequisite: A valid RMA number must be visible on the outside of the package. Any units returned without prior authorization or refused by the customer during the return process will result in the forfeiture of warranty rights.

4. Warranty Exclusions (Void Criteria) This warranty will be rendered null and void if the product exhibits:

  • Physical Damage: Signs of impact, dropped units, crushed casing, or visible dents.

  • Tampering: Broken or removed factory seals, opened drive casings, or unauthorized repair attempts.

  • Environmental Neglect: Damage from power surges, water, fire, or improper installation.

  • Refusal to Return: Failure to return the original defective drive will result in the cancellation of the warranty claim and any future support.
